How to Calibrate the 212AB Hot Water Thermometer

Time of Release : 2024-05-29

The 212AB Hot Water Thermometer is a reliable and accurate temperature sensor that does not require electricity or wiring, making it widely used in HVAC services and light industrial applications. Featuring a stainless steel housing and a removable thermowell, it complies with the ASME B40.3 design standard, making it an ideal choice for many process applications.

To ensure long-term accuracy, the 212AB Hot Water Thermometer requires regular calibration. The calibration process is relatively simple and is primarily achieved by adjusting the calibration screw on the back of the dial.

Before calibration, it is recommended to remove the thermometer from its installation location to avoid interference from external environmental factors. Prepare a standard temperature source with a known accurate temperature, such as a constant temperature water bath or calibration furnace. Fully immerse the sensing part (thermowell) of the 212AB Hot Water Thermometer into the standard temperature source, ensuring it makes full contact and reaches thermal equilibrium.

Once the thermometer reading stabilizes, observe the deviation between its displayed temperature and the standard temperature source. If a deviation exists, use a small screwdriver or other suitable tool to gently adjust the calibration screw on the back of the dial. Turning the screw clockwise or counterclockwise will move the pointer toward higher or lower temperatures, respectively. Fine-tune the adjustment until the thermometer's pointer aligns with the accurate value of the standard temperature source.

During the calibration process, avoid applying excessive force to the screw to prevent damage to the internal mechanical structure. After calibration, it is recommended to reinstall the thermometer in its original position and perform multiple temperature measurements to verify its accuracy in practical applications.

The design features of the Hot Water Thermometer also facilitate its calibration. Its bottom connection (1/2" interface) and removable thermowell structure make installation and disassembly more convenient, while also simplifying maintenance and calibration. The wetted parts of the thermometer are made of copper alloy, offering excellent corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity, ensuring long-term stable operation in hot water environments.
