Working Principle of Thermo-manometer
The thermo-manometer is a critical instrument widely used in heating systems, hot water, and combination boiler systems. It integrates the functions of a pressure gauge and a thermometer into a single device, providing dual measurement capabilities. The core working principle of the thermo-manometer is based on the combination of a bimetallic thermometer system and a Bourdon tube pressure system, ensuring accurate simultaneous measurement of system pressure and temperature.
In the internal structure of the thermo-manometer, the bimetallic thermometer system is responsible for temperature measurement. The bimetallic strip consists of two metal strips with different thermal expansion coefficients bonded together. When the temperature changes, the bimetallic strip bends, and this movement is mechanically transmitted to move the pointer, displaying the current temperature on the dial. This design is suitable for the common temperature ranges in heating systems (e.g., 0-120°C or 0-160°C).
The Bourdon tube pressure system is the core component of the thermo-manometer used for pressure measurement. The Bourdon tube is a curved metal tube that changes shape when system pressure acts upon it. This deformation is mechanically amplified and converted into pointer movement, displaying the current pressure value on the dial. The Bourdon tube is typically made of copper alloy, enabling it to withstand high-pressure environments in heating systems (e.g., 0-4 bar, 0-6 bar, or 0-10 bar).
The thermo-manometer's housing is made of black stainless steel, providing robust protection and excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-term use in harsh environments. The brass wetted parts further enhance the instrument's durability, ensuring stable operation under high temperature and pressure conditions. Designed in accordance with the ASME B40.1 standard, the thermo-manometer is widely used in the boiler and heating industries. Its nominal size of 80 mm in diameter facilitates easy installation and reading.
The thermo-manometer is typically connected via bottom or center-back direct mounting, allowing flexible adaptation to different system layouts. With an accuracy class of 2.5, it meets the measurement requirements of most heating systems. By integrating pressure and temperature measurement functions into a single instrument, the thermo-manometer not only simplifies system monitoring but also improves data reliability and consistency.
